The Kilmer has a zero tolerance policy for bullying and the Kilmer School Site Council has adopted a full and comprehensive policy against bullying.
The policy - as well as reporting forms specific to the Upper and Lower School - are included in the Kilmer Family Handbook and the Kilmer Staff Manual and is posted on the Kilmer School website. The policy is posted throughout the school and Report Forms are available in several locations in each building as well as through the Kilmer School website. Copies of the key provisions of the policy are distributed annually and students are required to sign an acknowledgement that they received the policy every fall. We educate all Kilmer students on identifying bullying and how to respond to such incidents throughout the school year in a variety of ways, many of which are identified in the policy’s provisions.
The Kilmer staff encourage any Kilmer student who believes they have been the victim of bullying to report the incident as soon as possible. Parents are also encouraged to discuss the policy with their children to ensure that they are familiar with its provisions.
This policy assists us in dealing with bullying incidents swiftly and appropriately and maintaining a safe, positive and bully-free climate for all members of the Kilmer community.
